I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream!

On Sunday there was an Ice Cream Social at Dawson's school. Free pizza and ice cream? Sign me up! It was a lot of fun! It was a beautiful day so after we chowed down, Daws was able to have some playground time. His school has an awesome playground! The kids also got to check out their rooms and teachers. Last year was 2-day Pre-K at the same school so he will be in the same room and have the same teachers. But, it was fun to see them again and re-visit the room after a couple months off. The room had been rearranged and some new centers had been added. :) Dawson has been singing all of his school songs in the car, so I think he's  ready to go back! Mommy may or may not be ready for that break again. ;)

P.S. How cute is this FREE PRINTABLE

I know it's blurry, but I love that we was so excited to be back at school. :)

His teacher was taking his picture...I think she has some sort of construction bulletin in the works.

Check out those toofers!

He at his ice cream AND mine, so I had to steal Daddy's! ;)

Brother loved the playground too!!

Channeling his inner cow since he can't have ice cream yet. ;)

I'm looking forward to...

1. Fall. All of it--Pumpkin Spice Lattes ( I can taste heaven in a cup as I type!), changing leaves, sweatshirts, jeans, trips to every orchard and pumpkin patch in a 25 mile radius, and  a ridiculous amount of decorating, of course.

2. Planning Hudson's 1st Birthday. Let's get this straight...I'm not excited he's turning one because that has just gone WAY too fast. I just like the party planning and celebrating with family and friends aspect of it. Oh, and any excuse to eat, and eat, and eat cake! :)

3. Back to school. Can we get real for a second? I absolutely love being a stay-at-home mom, BUT those few hours of freedom I get in the morning are a godsend. Dawson will now be going 3 mornings a week from 8-11. He loves it, I love it...it's a win/win for all parties involved. Except for maybe his teachers who have to listen to his non-stop ramblings for 3 hours straight. ;) Oh, how I love that one-of-a-kind kid!

4. Changes. Changes can be scary, but they can also be good. We just found out that the house we are renting is being sold. We really loved this house (as much as you can love a house when you're renting), but I'm not a fan of the amount of rent we pay each month. We need to downsize, so this is actually a blessing in disguise. I'm definitely not looking forward to moving, packing, or the feeling of wanting to bang my head against the wall when all my crap is lost in boxes. BUT, I love rearranging and decorating...so I'm trying to look on the bright side. ;) Here's hoping I don't go crazy in the meantime while trying to find us somewhere else to live.

5. Halloween. I can look forward to this being the first year of dressing my kids in coordinating costumes already, can't I?! ;)

But mostly, I'm looking forward to Fall.

8 Months!

Only 4 more months until this sweet little thing turns a year! Not possible. He is crawling EVERYWHERE, pulling up on anything he can find, and has found his "little" voice and loves to just happily screech all day long. :) Hudson is such a happy baby. He will eat anything and everything--I mean it, this kid can put it away! Totally takes after his momma. ;) His naps are around 2-2 1/2 hours and he is taking one in the morning around 9/10 depending on when he wakes up, then another around 1:30/2. He is still ready for bed around 6/6:30ish, and wakes up around 5 or 6 for a bottle then goes back to sleep for a bit. I'm pretty sure he is around the 23 lb. range now (Hello!), but we will find out next month when we go for his 9 mo. appt. Hudsie loves going on walks and the song "The Wheels on the Bus." Peppa Pig and Sesame are his two favorite shows at the moment. I say it all the time, but he really does complete our family. He fits perfectly and Daws just loves [most of the time] his little "Mackerdoodles" ;)

 ALWAYS on the go!!

Trucks, Creeks, and Popsicles!

Can I just say that I have had THE best week with just my Dawson. My mom and sister are still on summer break from school and were awesome enough to watch Hudson for us from Sunday until today. We missed that boy like crazy, but hot damn it was so nice to have one kid again! ;) I know it's all relative and I believe me I was totally exhausted when I just had one kid, but holy moly it felt like a cake walk this week with just Daws. He starts back to school next Friday, so it was nice to spend some time with him one-on-one before the craziness starts again. And, yes...even preschool can be crazy busy! Daddy took Daws to Monkey Joe's on Tuesday, and we filled the other two days up with playdates.

The white rabbit decided to join us as well. ;)

Today we headed to Touch-a-Truck for the second time. What can I say, you can't go wrong with a shit ton of vehicles just waiting to have their horns honked and seats sat in! ;)

The "Tipsey Trolley"...hmmmm, what an odd vehicle to bring to a children's event. ;)

After our morning of trucks we headed back to a friend's house for lunch, playtime, and a little creek stomping before we had to pick Hudson up. The boys had an absolute blast just being boys.
Water, sticks, and rocks...that's really all you need for some good old-fashioned fun Little House on the Prairie style. ;)
And, it just so happens that "creek stomping" is on our summer checklist-score!

4-years-old and they're already comparing sticks. ;)

I'm sorry, BUTT I couldn't resist.
[This is actually the first time D has ever peed outdoors. SO... being the creepy scrapbooker that I am I couldn't pass this picture up. ;]

And, this is where my child pretends to like popsicles. I mean, what kid doesn't like a dang popsicle?!
He will take a few licks then give it to me...which I'm 110% fine with. :)

And, the weather was beyond ridiculously nice today!
We're talking 70's and no humidity...all day. It was seriously the best ever. That is pretty much unheard of in Indiana. Dare I say I'm already excited for...wait for it...FALL! ;)

5 on Friday!

Better late than never right?!! ;)

[ONE] How cute are these cupcakes?! I'm a HUGE fan of cute AND easy, and these are definitely both. I'm thinking these need to make an appearance at one of our playdates next week! :)

[TWO] Keeping this in mind this week. I heart you C.S. Lewis.

[THREE] I can't believe how well Hudson is crawling! Not only is he crawling at 7 1/2 months, he is pulling up on everything! This kid is an animal! Apparently he didn't get the "you're my last baby so slow your roll" memo. D loves to crawl along with his little bro and root him on. Just as long as Hudson's not crawling over to one of HIS toys. ;) Ahhhhh...brotherly love.

It was 90+ here all week, so clothing was optional as you can see.
Oh, and Hudson thinks he's big stuff now that he can pull up. :)
[FOUR] I've been feeling pretty nostalgic as the hubs and I get closer to our 7th wedding anniversary coming up in October. I found this little gem from 2005! Of course I had to compare it to today...8 years later. Do we look like babies in the left picture or what?! ;) P.S. No, my husband doesn't normally walk around with a blue ribbon around his neck unless he's at a wait for it...barbershop event....where he geeks out with the gold medal he won with his quartet. It's a pretty big deal in the land of barbershop.

[FIVE] I love sweet vinaigrettes in the summertime, and this one is delish! If you haven't tried it, you definitely should.

Finish The Sentence...

button

Happy Thursday!
Thought I would do this fun little "Finish the Sentence" link-up today with Holly over at

If I had one extra hour in the day...I could lie and say I would get more laundry done, but let's be honest-I would watch more crappy reality TV when the kids go to bed.

I wish my name...wouldn't get butchered every damn time. My last name is Texeira {I get it, it's tricky} but it 9/10 gets pronounced "TEXARIA". People there is no RIA on the end of my name.

I think anything chevron...will most likely always wind up as the background on one of my scrapbook pages. Love it!

My last nightmare...involved my hair looking like the Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz.  The ringlets and the red bow. It was a hot mess of a hair-do.

Sometimes...I just want to ignore the monitor and sleep until I can't sleep anymore.

My last meal on earth would be...A glass of Moscato, cookies and cream ice cream, and my Mom's lasagna.

I would much rather...work out and cheat eat than count calories, be a size 5, and eat lettuce.

Mayonnaise...makes me want to dry heave unless it's in my mom or sister's tuna or pasta salad. Especially, Miracle Whip.

10 years ago, I didn't think...I would have 2 boys! I always thought I would wind up with a house full of girls.

Selfishly... My sister and I will go to Orange Leaf when we go out for dinner and not bring any home to my husband even though it's his fave because I "just don't want to deal with the hassle." Super selfish.

My favorite show on TV right now...Pretty Wicked Moms. Sad, but true.

And, George Zimmerman... You mean there's life outside Sesame Street and Peppa Pig?!

Let them be little...

One of my facebook friends posted this {http://www.handsfreemama.com/2013/07/16/the-day-i-stopped-saying-hurry-up} today, and it really spoke to me. I catch myself SO many times hurrying Dawson. Even more so now that I have two kids. This post brought me to tears. There were three or four instances just today that I caught myself saying, 'hurry up!" Ugh.  I made a conscious effort to not rush him today, and just "let him be a kid." This blog entry was such a wonderful reminder to just let children be children. Obviously, there are just going to be times when you have to light the fire under your child's behind to get them to moving...but when we're in absolutely no time crunch at all, I'm going to make a conscious effort to not hurry my sweet, curious boys along. :)

This just fits perfectly!

All things free!

Because who doesn't love free, right! :) Libraries and parks are where it's at in the free department for kids, for sure! Especially when you're kids are driving you crazy and you just need a place to escape. ;)

Last week we went to the CLANG! concert at the library. It was just 3 guys and a ton of instruments. Dawson and Hudson both loved it! Daws absolutely loves all things music, so this was perfect for him. And, it was loud enough to distract Hudson from crawling out the door to eat something he shouldn't be...like someone's shoe or a book. ;)
He even got to play the instruments, which was a major score!

The concert was at 4:00, which was after nap and before dinner. Perfect time slot for passing a little time and getting out of the house. :)

Yesterday we packed a lunch and headed to the park with friends for a concert and a little splash park fun! That's right...music, dancing, water, and a playground all in one park. Winning!
It was a hot one, but we had a blast!! Oh, and did I mention the key word here...FREE.
Which made the heat bearable. ;)

Seriously, look at this gorgeous day!!
Best part about this picture is that Daws didn't even know those girls. He just flashed those big eyes at them and spent the rest of the hour dancing away with his new friends. I'm in serious trouble with that one!

Super happy that I'm making him take his morning nap on-the-go. ;)

Bromance.
Water fun!

We're already looking forward to next Monday when we get to do it all over again. Dawson starts school in less than 3 weeks (craziness!), so we are at the point where we are totally cramming every last bit of fun into these next 2 weeks. :)
